This was conducted by uniformed Confederates who had the good fortune to operate against Home Guards and the Invalid Corps.Many texts on this as well; also a movie which starred a well known actor. What is most interesting about this uniformed and armed incursion on the Union's northern border was that it was an outgrowth of a large and complicated Confederate intelligence operation conducted in Canada throughout the war. |
