Everything the Ad promises! |
This is short because there are some other EXCELLENT detailed reviews on the pros and cons.
I never expected to go eBook. I love my paperbacks! I spend all day looking at a computer screen and strongly dislike reading extensive content that way. My paperbacks and library hardbacks are a wonderfully refreshing and relaxing counterpoint.
And then I saw Americancivilwar's Kindle ad, and I thought WOW, but.... And then I started reading customer reviews and putting money aside, just in case.
And I bought my Kindle a few weeks ago and have no desire to look back. My beloved paperbacks are making their way to the local library as I convert my collection.
Great job Americancivilwar! I cannot wait to see how this product evolves over time. |

Love IT! |

I have been looking at the Kindle for several months and finally decided to splurge and get it. I love it. It is conveniant... I dont have to worry about losing my books and its small enough to fit in my purse. There is a few things that I would change though..... the page turn button on the the left side should be the bigger button and up higher..... downloading..... I am of course in an area that cannot get the downloads without coneecting to the computer... 15 minutes down the road I can. And I have had issues uploading software updates. Other than that I love this product.... I think the only other thing I would change is backlighting the screen to read in bed at night in the dark.. Thanks AMAZON |

I love it, just would add password protection option. |

I love my Kindle. I would prefer if it gave me the option to password protect it, after the screen saver and upon restart. I am a little uncomfortable with the fact that it can still be used at the Kindle store without a password typed in. Other than that I am very satisfied with my purchase and use if most of the day. |

Very Cool Devise |
Not going to bore you with a long review...seeing there are over 2000 reviews as I'm writing this. So I will give you my pro and con list.
Pros
-The screen and font sizing very easy on the eyes. It's actually pretty cool that no matter how you hold it, there is no glare! It really does look like paper...almost like newsprint!
-Wireless connectivity to Americancivilwar, Wiki, and the dictionary, other websites via the onboard web browser. I actually find myself looking up words a lot more.
-Compact size...not too big, not too small
-The ability to convert Word and pdf documents and view on the kindle. (although, 3rd party software and some tinkering is necessary to do this)
-Long battery life.
-A fresh Newspaper every morning...thats one less stop I have to make!
Cons
-Only Black and White Screen
-Wireless internet is a little slow (but then, it wasn't designed to be a web browser)
-Some sort of backlight option would have been cool
-A better designed case. It's not too bad, but I can see how other people have a fear of their kindle falling out
-No Mp3 Controls (but then again, this is a reading devise...go buy a Zune!)
-Needs the ability to cataloge better...like being able to put different books or documents into different folders instead of having to go page after page to find what you are looking for |

Be careful before you buy this. Make sure to read the many negative reviews written by people who have no reason to be biased against the Kindle. Americancivilwar has a short window for you to return the Kindle for full price. |
