The center of the puzzle shows a map of the southern and eastern United States, with the locations of important battles and key facts for each state's part in the conflict. Above the map is a battle scene showing soldiers in combat; Rebel gray against Union blue. Around the map are small portraits of the leaders of both sides, and around the borders are small squares showing historic sites and museums.
