Nice, but not a good color reference |
I won't disagree with the previous three reviewers except to note that this makes a poor painting guide if you're looking for a wargaming reference. Very few color plates, so it's primary use is for style and equipment rather than color schemes. For $12, however, not a bad reference. |

Civil War Uniforms |
An excellent guide for reenactors, wargamers, and those who, like myself, are simply interested. The book discusses the unique units and their uniforms for each invidual state on both sides, and is well-endowed with haunting photographs of individual soldiers, and brilliant color plate by Richard Hook. A good starting point and also a useful reference! |

Uniforms of the Civil War |
Very good, very detailed, by unit. Lots of good photography. For the novice like myself, a great starting point. |

Excellent overview |
Excellent overview of uniforms and equipment of the Civil War. Book is broken into Union Epuipment and Confederate Epuipment and further subdivided into States. Especially notable are the many photos and color plates throughout the book. |
