Love It - Great Value! |
I was looking for a small point & shoot digital, and both my mother and my father own PowerShot cameras and have nothing but great things to say about them. I went back and forth between the SD870 and the SD850 and finally decided on the SD850 because it had the viewfinder. I don't use a viewfinder often, but it has come in handy in the past on my other digital camera.
I've been really happy with the SD850 - excellent pictures, easy to use for the most part, as I get used to where certain features and functions are in the menu. I got the camera and a few days later took it to Montana for a wedding. It was small enough to fit in my evening bag, yet powerful enough to take pretty good pictures of mountains. The zoom isn't huge, but for a compact camera, it's decent. The image stabilization worked well - I had fewer blurry pictures than with my larger Olympus that doesn't have image stabilization. And yes, I did use the viewfinder several times in the super bright sun.
I've used it since and was able to capture some amazing pictures of rainbows over the prairie, and some pretty wicked storm clouds in the Midwest, using normal AUTO settings without the flash.
Bottom line: A great camera at a great price. It's a good idea to get an extra battery, though mine lasted for about 200+ photos. (Don't listen to bogus online sellers who tell you it comes with a 20-minute battery and you must buy a spare in order to use the camera.) |

my second 850 |

This is my second Canon 850 (my first one was accidently dropped into water) and I love it. The camera is so easy to use and fits in my pocket. I can carry it everywhere. The photos are fantastic. |

Excellent Value Camera |
The Canon PowerShot SD850 IS 8.0 MP Digital Elph Camera with 4x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom is a multi-featured camera far surpassing expectations for the price. Compact but powerful and the resulting photos are extremely sharp and color-true. The memory disc has too small a capacity, but that was easily remedied with the purchase of a more spacious disc on the aftermarket. Also, when purchasing this camera, I recommend that you purchase an accompanying travel case for it.

So much more than I had hoped |
I bought the PowerShot to take on vacation with me. The pictures are incredibly sharp and clear. This is a tremendous improvement over my FujiFilms 4 mp. I am very pleased. Then I went to a Lyle Lovett concert, pulled the zoom and suddenly it was 16x zoom! I have pictures that look like he was standing inches away from me! Maybe I ought to read the manual? This was a lovely surprise and I wouldn't trade this camera for anything.

Everyone need to have one of this excellent, handy camera |
|
Everyone need to have one of this excellent, handy camera. I bought one for everybody in my family. My wife, 2 sons, my sister, we all carry it in the pocket, in the purse. The life is full of wonderful, beautiful sights what worth to record, load in the computer and review again and again. It also make excellent movie footages. If a picture or footage become not so important later, than you just delete it. It didn't cost you a penny, not a photographer processed it, you did. You buy photo paper and print a picture on it, than frame and hang on the wall. All takes just minutes and with this fantastic little camera you produced everlasting memories for the future to look back. We all love our little camera. You will too. Regards, Laslo Bako |
