great value! |
very pleased with the quality, audio range, installation ease, connections.
The 9 5/16" hole size stipulated in the instructions is a little small, but with a little more shaving it was fine--better to start too small than too big!
audio is crisp and very clean. I doubt that spending twice as much would provide any better audio quality.

Great in-ceiling spakers |
So here's a quick review on the speakers:
Pro's:
- Speakers mount almost flush with the ceiling so you really don't notice them very much
- They have aimable tweeters so you can point them towards where you normally sit (don't even consider any ceiling mounted speakers that don't have aimable tweeters)
- The white color on the face isn't a stark white so they blend in well with most white ceilings
- Speaker wire connectors are spring loaded so inserting the wires while crawling around in the ceiling is very easy
- The locking mechanism for holding the speakers in the ceiling works well, and means it doesn't require someone in the ceiling holding the speaker while you mount it.
Con's
- 8 inch speakers are actually much larger than you would think. I actually returned these and got the 6.5 inch size, which fit the size of my livingroom much better
- removing the grill for the installation is a bit of a pain until you figure out the trick. i.e. Gently flex the outer plastic edge of the speaker until the grill starts to pop out, then pull it the rest of the way off.
Conclusion: The sound from these speakers is excellent and they're a great way to get rid of the clutter of floor speakers. Remember though that most of your sound in a surround sound system comes from the center channel, so buy a good center channel to go along with these and you can't go wrong. |

Great value! |

I just installed these, powerful sound. Better than I expected. The template was accurate and you can paint them to match the wall. I don't recommend a brush or roller for the screen portion though. I would definitely buy these again. Lots of sound for the dollar. Aimable tweeters were a plus as well. |

I put the Phoenix Gold speakers into a section of my house that I am remodeling. I am very happy with the sound quality and overall performance. I am not an audio file but appreciate their performance. Two Thumbs Up!! |

Review of Phoenix Gold ATc8 Eight-inch In-Ceiling Speakers |
|
Great Speaker For Under $100 Pair. Sounds great. Easy Installation. I Installed in a panel drop ceiling. Cut a 1/4 board for the same size as panel for support in ceiling(weight of speaker would of caved in panel ceiling). I had extra panel boards laying around, alot cheaper then paying $40+ for there installation brakets. (Half the cost of the speakers!!!) They send cut out templates for speaker holes. Real easy, I ain't much of a handy-man either. Hooked it up to a new SONY STR-DE197 receiver($135 or less). They pound for 8 inchers (not alot of bass, in ceiling speakers, duh). You could have stereo in every room for cheap, as long as you do the work yourself. |
