Get One! |
This really works! I had my doubts, but this is great technology. I am an avid movie watcher and have owned a Sony Ps3 (which I partially purchased to play Bluray movies.)
The up sampling on this player works like a charm, with regular DVD's. As a matter of fact, in my opinion Bluray looks annoyingly like a video game and up sampling looks better!
Save your money and beat the system! This will make you happy you got a flat screen with an HDMI input! The price is very cheap and this will remind you why you purchased that big flat screen in the first place. (really)

An inexpensive way to greatly improve picture quality |
I recently purchased a Panasonic 50" plasma 1080p HDTV. I have a fair number of DVD's and was slightly disappointed with the picture quality via my old DVD player. After becoming aware of these upconverting or upscaling DVD players, I began doing a little research, as I'm not quite ready to spring for a BluRay player, and purchased the Sony NS700H. The improvement in the picture quality is striking. I couldn't be more pleased, given the price of this unit.
I spoke with several video geeks, even a couple in the box stores, and all told me the same thing -- this type of DVD player will work best with a 1080p TV and an HDMI connection. Since this is the configuration I have, it works beautifully. |

Nice DVD player replacement, lacking features though |
Don't get me wrong, I love what it does to my DVDs but, common, cheap boxes are doing DivX since forever! No Divx/mpeg, no USB/Flashcard input, etc - shame on you Sony! Thanks for JPEG but hello, I take video with my camera too!!!
Too bad can't get rid of my old box yet :(
p.s. Can I download a newer firmware and upgrade it? Oh, forgot you don't have any means to comm with this box. |

awesome |
I got this because the blu-ray players are still too expensive.
This player works very good, the only thing I don't like is that it does not show the chapter # on the display on the dvd player itself , but if you press the DISPLAY button you can see it on the screen.
If you hook up yours through HDMI you also get sound through it on the tv, so no need to run any other wire other than hdmi(mine is hooked up through a receiver).
You get a nice blue led light as well.
I got a Phillips model 1 day before this one then replaced it with this sony one because it did not have a fiber optic out for the sound and when I tried to hook up the red/white rca to the receiver , my speakers and especially the sub made a very loud humming noise (the picture wasn't as good either).
With the fiber optic , it IS perfect !!!!!!!
"Get it, you won't regret it" . |
