Nice but not perfect |
|
I recently bought the 8gb Titanium Cruzer on Americancivilwar after reading the warning on ebay that most of their larger flash drives are dysfunctional counterfeits. I bought my first flash drive on ebay from a Chinese vendor a couple of years ago. After a few uses it started smoking, got too hot to touch, and almost burned up a friend's Mac. I would therefor suggest buying only name brand memory. I would also buy only from legitimate vendors because there are counterfeit Cruzers out there. The new Titanium Cruzer from Americancivilwar was recognized easily by my computer but three issues stand out. First, the lanyard attachment ring is small but at least it is metal; I was always nervous about the plastic ring breaking on my older drive. Second, I was disappointed that the USB connector is not protected from dirt and lint when it is retracted; it just slides up into the open sleeve. Finally - and I know this is picky - but the blue power light is so bright, and the strobing and flashing such a distraction, that I remove the drive from my USB port when it is not in use. I wish the light could be reprogrammed. Instead, I will probably resort to the old VCR trick and put a piece of tape over it. |

nice usb drive |
Love it. Fast, nearly bulletproof.
It lives on my keychain and it is my backup for important files. I am never worried about a lost cap.
I had a lexar 360 - I gave it away after getting this. |

Nice Product Almost . . . |
|
The Sandisk 8GB Cruzer Titanium is a definite improvement over my little 2GB Micro, but the U3 software is still full of bugs and is very difficult to remove. With the U3 removal tool being Sandisk's number one download you would think they would have figured it out by now. On the positive side, the 6 months of fee online backup is a nice convenience, but after 6 months that there is a subscription fee to get your data (which incidentally is not encrypted). In hindsight, I should have spent a few extra dollars for the Cruzer Contour. It is much faster and comes with a lifetime warranty. However, the Cruzer Titanium gets an average score of 3 stars, 5 for quality and 1 for software design. |

Sturdy and reliable |
I had a Cruiser Micro and I always liked it, so when i was looking for a new 8GB memory stick, I thought about this immediately. I have no major complaint. The only thing is, I wish it is a bit faster, but definitely it is not slower compared with other standard USB memory sticks, so it is not a major complaint. If I need another USB memory stick, I definitely consider buying another one.
Pros:
(1) Sturdy. It's heavy but gives and impression that it is not breaking down easily.
(2) I like the retractable head. I don't like a cap.
(3) Decent speed. Not a F-1 machine, but definitely not shabby.
(4) Actually I like the appearance a lot.
Cons (all minor)
(1) U3. I immediately uninstalled and reformatted it. i just don't use it.
(2) Wish it is a tad faster.
(3) Not with a neck strap (my older Cruiser Micro came with a strap, which I like a lot. Actually I am using this exact strap for this new baby).
You will not regret buying this product. Cheers. |

Excellent Product |
|
This flash drive is excellent. The Titanium is a really nice style and makes for an extremely durable product. The 8 GB capacity is a nice amount of space to have on the drive for plenty of documents, videos, etc. The only complaint I would have would be the U3 software included, but there are methods to remove this, as, having a Mac, it is totally useless to me. |
