The Audiovox XMFM-1 FM Direct Adapter for Xpress XM7 Satellite Radio Receiver is designed expressly to turn the internal FM transmitter in Audiovox's XM7 receiver into a wired FM modulator. This unit plugs directly into the vehicle radio antenna jack in your car stereo, and connects to the XMC-10 cradle via the docking station's audio line-out jack. This is especially useful for when you are taking advantage of your XM7 XM satellite radio receiver's FM transmitter because your vehicle's car stereo does not have an audio line-in jack accessible, and you are driving through areas with strong FM radio signals that are interfering with your car's reception of the XM7's FM transmission. In order for this unit to operate, your XM7 receiver must be set to FM On in the Xpress XM user's menu. |

This item does require professional or very knowledgeable amateur mechanic to install, but does a superb job of bringing in clean, static free, no interference XM radio reception. Highly recommended! |

XM Installation Kit |
|
What a huge difference going from using the cassette adapter for my XM radio to the professional installation with the Audiovox XMFM1 Xpress XM Satellite Radio FM Switch Box! With the adapter the sound was very thin and tinny, and there was no bass to speak of whatsoever. With the professional installation, the sound quality for music is very good, almost CD quality. The sound quality for sports and news is also much better with the professional installation, though it's still not as good as the regular FM. All in all, I'd highly recommend making the investment in having your XM installed. |

Works great once installed |
|
If you're comfortable pulling the dash out of your car to attach this, then it's a great purchase. For the rest of us, make sure there's a place that will install this for you if you purchase it.. I found many places wouldn't install it unless I bought it there. I finally found a local audio store in my area that installed this and a car kit for my Inno-2 for $60. I've been really pleased with the performance since I got it, however, I've noticed I have to turn up the volume a bit more than if I was listening to the regular radio. |

Easy installation |

The Audiovox Car XMFM1 FM Direct Adapter was a cinch to install and preforms in a class by itself. We just took our first trip to a large city with plenty of FM Radio Stations, which usually interferred with XM, and because of the Audiovox Car XMFM1 FM Direct Adapter I was ablel to enjoy XM without all the hassel of looking for an open channel. I give the unit a two thumbs up! |

Defective merchandise |

Unfortunately the item was defective as received and the XM radio would not work. Luckily the folks at Best Buy (who were installing the XM radio) were nice enough to swap out the FM Direct Adapter without charging me. |
