It's a good bet that any American kid growing up in the '70s or '80s learned some elementary lesson from the seminal musical series Schoolhouse Rock!. Airing from 1973 to 1984 (and often revived), the ABC Saturday morning shorts effortlessly introduced kids to grammar, science, multiplication, money, and American history--three minutes at a time. In one smart, comprehensive 2-disc set, all 46 songs and plenty of extras are collected. The four creators developed the series slowly, a welcome diversion from their advertising agency jobs, and ended up taking home four Emmys over the years. The background material includes 10 audio commentaries and a making-of feature for the new song, "I'm Gonna Send Your Vote to College." I couldn't pass up this one! |

I grew up on Schoolhouse Rock - - didn't we all? My husband and I bought the videos for our son (10 years ago??) and now we wanted the DVD for our daughter. I have so many favorites on it that I can't help but sing along. My daughter looks at me, then at the t.v., then back at me... I'm not sure if she's enjoying the segments or enjoying how I sing along! Pretty soon, she'll be singing along too! And of course, it is only because of Schoolhouse Rock that I know any of the Preamble to the Constitution... You too?? |

Who can forget Schoolhouse Rock! |
Now doesn't this remind you of those great Saturday morinings a long time ago? Schoolhouse Rock is a classic. When I first ordered this, I convinced myself that I was getting it for the kids. Well, I think I've watched it more than they have! Great songs, cute cartoons, and it has that nostalgic appeal that the 30+ generation will appreciate. Excellent DVD for the young, and uhhhhh, the old. Lol!

I know that the video is a good video but since I have to have my DVD remote to choose what I will watch, I cannot just let it run from beginning to end. I don't understand why the makers of the video would set it up like that. |

Not what I expected |

This is not up to date...the songs are old and my kids were not excited by it. the words are sung SO fast you can't even really understand what they are saying. unhip. |
