The Twilight Zone |
|
The is the first Twilight Zone which aired from 1959 to 1964 including 138 episodes. Rod Serling presents many interesting stories with a lot of twists and turns to keep your interest. I especially enjoy seeing the movie stars which include some famous and some not as famous. There are a lot of extras as well. |

Excellent collection with 1 small problem |
Overall, highly recommended. One small problem, though. On the last track on season 3, disc 1, "It's a Good Life" the audio for the episode is essentially missing. At first I thought it was a clever intro to the episode--that is, seeing the actors' lips move and not hearing the dialogue. Then I realized it was a bad transfer. I then played the episode through my stereo, and turned up the volume to "10" and I could just barely make out the audio.
Americancivilwar sent me a complete relpacement set but the same disc from the brand new set had the same problem. I guess I'll have to live with it. |

The price goes down - - the quality goes up |
I spent over $800 on the VHS videos from Columbia House two decades ago. I spent less than $140 for the DVD set and discovered more treasures, rare filmed interviews, bonus extras and high-quality transfers that are far superior to what I have been watching the past 20 years.
The retail price keep lowering over the months but by now it's beyond affordable. I recommend you grab it today.
I also suggest you buy "The Twilight Zone: Unlocking the Door to a Television Classic" because the 800 plus page book is a P-E-R-F-E-C-T companion to the DVD box set. Before or after you watch an episode, you can use the book to uncover the in-jokes, bloopers and trivia that make viewing these episodes fun. Watching the shows is one thing, knowing the behind-the-scenes stuff is even more fun. Both are available on Americancivilwar.

Definately Definitive |
What can I say that the other 160+ folks haven't already said? This is a DVD series the way they all should be. Not only do you get some first rate television in nearly pristine transfers, but you get all the extras you could ever want. The normally serious Rod Serling goofing lines, bumper spots for Chesterfield cigarettes, CBS ads for other TV shows of the day, ad infinitum. Combine this with Marc Scott Zicrees brilliant "The Twilight Zone Companion" and you have the makings of a personal TZ marathon.
In summary, well worth the $$... |

Great buy for Twilight fans |
|
This is wonderful for fans of the Twilight Zone if you know you already like this show. My friend got me into it, and though I'm not the hugest fan, I still really enjoy watching these. I wish there were more quality programs on TV these days like this. The only thing I didn't really like is that when you play the dvd, it plays one episode at a time (unless it's just my dvd player) and doesn't continue to play each episode. I didn't like this because I love to watch TZ at night time; I find it calming to fall asleep too. Of course I also like to watch them when I'm wide awake. Overall it's a great deal compared to buying each dvd or season seperately. |
