there are a lot of movies here. it took me a couple of days to watch them all. many are awful some worth seeing. if you want a large collection of science fiction this one is not bad. |

Perfectly Awful |
Perfectly awful in a good way. These are exactly the kind of movies you would expect to see being lampooned on MST3K. You can almost hear Tom Servo, Crow, Joel, and Mike in the background. If you don't know what that means you may not get the appeal here.
These movies all lie on a continuum of bad B movies from the profoundly awful to the tragically banal. All of them have that "train wreck" appeal that keeps you watching and stops you from exercising your better judgement and turning away.
The packaging is nothing to write home about. There are NO special features. They all have minimum chapter access. And it all fits into a perfectly mundane package of mundane movies. Can't beat it for the money, and you wouldn't want to pay full price for anything on here. And I completely recommend this set. |

On a 1 to 10 scale, this collection is rated: 4.0 |
(AMAZON rating: 2½ stars)
The MILL CREEK ENTERTAINMENT multi-packs are an excellent way to flesh out an already established video collection with some lesser-known titles. These sets come grouped by genre. Condition of original films varies; video transfers are usually OK and audio can be weak at times. Overall, these vintage flix are quite enjoyable and the price for the box sets is more than fair.
Often they will have a mix of American, foreign and made-for-TV movies-- and this pack is no exception. Users of a data site for films graded these 20 movies. On a 1 to 10 scale, their current average rating is: 4.0.
The alphabetized playlist includes individual grades, years of release, country (if other than USA) and principal actors--
(2.4) Alien Species (1996) - Charles Napier/Hoke Howell
(2.7) The Amazing Transparent Man (1960) - Marguerite Chapman/Douglas Kennedy

(3.8) The Doomsday Machine (1972) - Grant Williams/Mike Farrell (in support)
(3.6) Evil Brain From Outer Space (Japan-1964) - Ken Utsui
(3.7) Frozen Alive (UK/W Ger-1964) - Mark Stevens
(4.7) The Head (W. Germany-1959)

It's bad quality |
I bought these dvd's expecting them to be good quality recordings of bad quality films. Instead, I got bad quality recordings period. They seem to be compressed like vcd pirate copies, and every now and again the company's insignia logo comes up at the bottom right hand of the screen for about 30 seconds or so.
I was disappointed with the vcd-like quality, and annoyed to be assaulted with logos during the films in this way.
Don't buy it. |
