I have intended to buy Perez Prado's Greatest Hits for years, and have procrastinated for one reason or another. I dearly regret that procrastination, since I could have been enjoying this fantastic music all that time. Perez Prado's music is as immediately relevant and enjoyable today as it was in the epoch in which he made it. Superior musicianship and arranging render these pieces flawlessly beautiful and moving. Hearing it immediately places one in a frenzied state of movement and dance and brings listeners together in a state of shared ecstasy. It is as accessible to a gringo audience as it is to a group of Latinos. This is a truly international music which celebrates life and musical perfection. Can't Get Enough |
Excellent selection of the greatest hits of Perez Prado and his orchestra. If you love the Latin big band sounds, you will love this.
The music comes out well on the CD. The cover work is great. I loved everything about it.
If I had to compare the sound of his band to someone else, the closest I could say would be if Ricky Ricardo were met up with Brian Setzer. |
