New Release - Hot off the press! Confused about what entry level kiteboarding instructional DVD to get? Look no further, Zero to Hero is here, produced by Real Kiteboarding in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, the largest and most respected lesson center on the planet. This DVD contains the syllabus to their 3-day entry level kite camp, which was rated one of the top five adventure sports camps in the world by Outside Magazine. You will get the most thorough, cutting edge, and effective instruction translated directly from the Zero to Hero camp to this DVD - with sections on safety and responsibility, wind, trainer kites, flying 4-line and 5-line inflatables, launching, landing, tuning, bodydrags, and board starts...everything to take you from a total zero to a safe and self-sufficient rider. And how about some killer bonus sections?
The main program teaches you how to kite, but the bonus sections teach you how to be a kiteboarder. There is a Coaches Tips bonus section, where several Real Coaches, both men and women, sit down to answer a multitude of rapid-fire questions that will help you stay safe while learning to kite and literally cut months off your learning curve. Shop Talk is a comprehensive section that will help you make sense of the board, kite, bar, and harness options available out there. Life of a Kiter is great bonus section that teaches you the stuff you need to know after your sessions are over: how to tune your 4 and 5 line bar, how to repair your kite canopy, how to repair a kite bladder, how to do minor board repairs. You won't get this stuff anywhere else. Plus complete kite and bar diagrams. These and other bonus sections all add up to a slam-dunk of a kiteboarding instructional video. Do yourself a favor - learn easily, quicky, and safely the first time, with a Real - Zero to Hero kite camp. |

Does the job.. |
|
This was meant to be an instructional video. That's what it is. Easy to understand. Easy to emulate. After using the video you can go right out and launch your kite with confidence. No frills in the video. Production values are in line with what you need to learn. |

Good for getting going |
Real Kiteboarding 'Zero to Hero' is a great introduction to the sport. The video briefly goes over a lot of the basics of launching and landing your kite, the fundamentals of control, as well as lots of other little things that are good to know. There are a lot of extras that definitely add to the dvd. Of course they say that you need professional instruction and that the dvd is meant simply as a supplement, but I would say that if your a good athlete and have a general feel for wakeboarding and sailing, you can get yourself going with quite a bit of practice with both the trainer kite and body dragging. I did. Then again, if you don't mind spending the money, I'm sure proper instruction would be a great way to do it as well.
Just a side note, the dvd only covers up to simply getting up on the board. It doesn't cover any of the riding basics like turning or riding upwind, so you'll have to get the 2nd dvd in the series to learn that. Or you could just go to the beach and watch what other people are doing. There are also some websites that have instructional write ups that I've found to be useful. |

In sync with everything else I've read and heard... |
|
This is the first insturctional video I bought but I had seen another one that came with my first kite and this video actually does a better job than my first one, but goes right along with all the same information that I got from the previous video. There were great demonstrations and cool explanations of everything from equipment to launching to riding. Plus there are some extras on here like how to repair your kite and different tips from several pros. After watching this I felt more than ready to start my lessons. |

As Good As You'll Find |
This DVD is excellent. I come from a background of windsurfing, wakeboarding and flying trainer kites so I was looking for something that would give some technical details as well as basic instruction. Real devlivered big time.
Not only is the kiteboarding instruction great, but there's a whole bunch of info about the gear and how to tune and repair everything from you kite to your board. The way it's laid out makes it easy to understand and follow.
After watching this I took a 17.5 kite out on the beach and had no problem flying it around and getting drug up and down the sand. I took a lesson and within two hours I was on the water cruising along like I'd done it for years. I have to credit this video for giving me a huge head start.
If your going to take some lessons get this DVD, you won't regret it. |
