Very good with limitations |
First the good. The Finis is the most comfortable waterproof music device I have ever used. I have been listening to music for 20 years while I swim, going back to a cassette deck strapped to my waist. Most devices are land players that have been wrapped in a case to use in water. This is a player designed to be used in water. It is light, compact and has reasonably good sound. I have had a lot of problems over the years with earbuds leading to ear infections. The Finis does not use earbuds, so it eliminates that problem. Also, every player I have ever used has had the cable connection between the player and the earbuds fail. Without exception. This player has no such cable, problem solved. The player fits easily on your goggles and stays in place very nicely (a real problem with many players). The bad: The charger, purchased separately (see review) is worthless. The unit charges fine on USB and you need to hook it up to your computer to copy songs, so it's not that big of a deal. My biggest concern is that prolonged use (40 minutes or more on multiple days in a row) seems to leave me with a headache. I've only been using if for a few weeks, so I'm hoping it's a passing phase or strange coincidence. I've read that a few others have had similar experiences so I'm suspicious. The sound on some players that use earbuds is better...but only when the ear buds stay perfectly in your ear and no water gets inside your ear, which seems to happen a lot. The player only works well when you are swimming (head submerged). You can get some sound out of water if you put the "speakers" over your ears but this is marginal. If you are not swimming laps, this is not your player. The Finis is a great idea and a well engineered device with only the one major concern keeping me from giving it 5 stars. |

Best All-Around Underwater Player |
I have been swimming for 20 years and have tried a handful of underwater mp3 players during that time (thank goodness the price has come down since the initial technology!). This player has exceeded my expectations and is so superior to my previous players, I am just astounded. For one, the biggest difference is the way the sound is transmitted. I was wary of the cheek-bone reverberation hype, but I am so impressed. With previous players, there were underwater earbuds that were inconsistent, filled my ears with water, lost sound at deeper depths, and -the worst part!- would not stay in at regular swimming speeds. Forget trying to kick off the wall and hold your earbuds. I had retired my earbud players to slow synchronized routines only. Lap swimming was at a loss until this player. I can sprint butterfly with fins on and they do not budge. The sound is loud and clear, not muffled. The volume is so great that I have asked other swimmers if I was bothering them. They swore they couldn't hear it. Unbelievable. They didn't come with goggles, but I am particular about the ones I have anyway and was glad to clip the player on. The chord wraps around the back of your head so there's not need to clip anything to your suit and there's nothing to get tangled in. The only downside is the lack of display console and programming, but I'll be honest, I don't need to see the title of my songs while I'm swimming and I hardly viewed them on the other players. Like many underwater players, it is a usb plug-n-play where you drag files in. Once you learn which buttons are which, it is a seamless transition to swimming with music. I really cannot express how impressed I am with this device. It is a great buy! |

Waterproof MP3 |
I have tried three other waterproof MP3 players with ear plugs and none of them come close to the performance of the Finis MP3 player. This is the one to buy!! Music is heard loud and clear both in and out of the water. Flip turns, sprint laps, whatever, the player stays in place and the music volume has plenty of range to adjust to whatever level you need. A hour of lap swimming is now a pleasure!!! Haven't come across any negative in the month and a half I have used them. Highly recommended. |

Excelente y nada mas! |
