Awesome little motor |

Great little motor, bought for a small fishing boat that my 2 sons and I use. Pulls us all over the lake with ease. Would recommend for any small boat. |

Loud and Clunky |
I really regret buying this motor. First of all, it is very loud, much louder than a water-cooled engine. It is as loud as a lawn mower if you stuck your head right down by the lawn mower engine. Second, it doesn't tilt sufficiently to get the prop out of the water like a water-cooled engine so we have to take it off the dinghy if we want to tow the dinghy. Third, the gear shift is really clunky to operate. I looked at the Mercury engines with the gear shift integrated into the throttle control and that is a much superior design.
I thought I would save some money by buying this engine over a Mercury but I am going to sell this engine at the first opportunity and get the Merc I should have purchased in the first place. |

Great little motor....American Made (gas tank made in Canada). |

Great little motor, my options were a 3.5 yamaha or a 5hp briggs. I was a little hesitant, but the price sold it to me. It's an air cooled motor, doesn't run or sound like a lawn motor as some previous posting indicate. It is not as loud as I was expecting from other online ratings. Worked great for my 12 foot sailing skiff, pushed me, my wife, and 2 kids (4 and 2) around the lake great...even on a VERY windy day. We were out for about 2 hours, and it used less than 1/2 gallon of fuel. The only draw back is the weight - it weighs in at about 56lbs. I paid $799 for it at Academy Sports. You can find them online as well for about this price with free shipping. |
