Product Description |
|
This mysterious weather predictor has been used since 1750. Admiral Fitzroy, the famous sailor and meteorologist, used the Stormglass aboard the HMS Beagle during his historic voyage with Darwin. After 250 years, how the Stormglass works is still a mystery, but it is believed that it has to do with the electromagnetic changes caused by weather and sun storms. The appearance of the crystals inside the glass indicates changes in the weather. The sealed glass chamber that holds the crystals is encapsulated in a beautifully crafted brass cylinder. It can be displayed freestanding or mounted to a boat bulkhead or wall using an optional mounting bracket. Polished brass. Dims: 1.65" x 5.75". |

Stormglass |

I purchased this stormglass as a gift for my husband, a real weather buff. He absolutely loved it. It is so interesting to watch the crystals form and interpret it from the chart that came with the instrument, In fact we framed the chart so other people can interpret the crystal formation also. It is a beautiful instrument and good conversational piece. |

Storm Glass and Overseas Shipping |

I bought this for my parents for Christmas. I live in Australia and didn't really leave much time for shipping. But it came well wrapped and was speedily delivered! |

Does it really work? |
|
I bought this item because of it's uniqueness. It's really interesting. But I rarely notice changes in it so I question if it really works. From the way I read the instructions my weather should always be cool/rainy and changing...but it's been hot and dry for weeks. I still enjoy it. |
