Low Price/ Great Product! |
I bought two of these for bicycles owned by my son and I -- a dirt
bike and my ten speed. He's 15, and installed them both in a manner
of minutes and they have worked flawlessly.
He has a 20 inch and mine is a 26 inch. The tire input size worked
great -- we have tracked mileage on similar trips and been very, very
close. I have spent $20-$30 for models from Walmart, this beat them
all. The function keys were very easy to use and logical -- even the
thermometer worked!

Hard to get the speedometer to work |
I installed this before a 60-mile trip, but could not get the speedometer function to work. Emailed the mfg. and they sent the following:
"The key to installing this product correctly so to make sure the magnet is as close to the sensor as possible (1mm away). For most bicycles that would require the sensor to be attached to the lower section of the front fork of the bicycle. You want to make sure the magnet passes through the center of the transmitter where there is a groove/divot in the plastic.
You can also determine the range of your transmitter by performing what I like to call the sensor magnet test:
Please follow these few steps which will help determine if your speedometer is malfunctioning. The best way to determine this is by removing the magnet and manually testing the sensor. While holding the magnet in your hand run it over the sensor back and forth with the speedometer turned on and sees if a reading comes up on the screen. If there is a reading then everything is fine and the magnet needs to be reinstalled closer to the sensor."
I made the recommended changes, and unit seems to work fine, now. I gave it a four because of the rather bad installation instructions in the packet.

You get more than you pay for |
|
All I really wanted was 2 functions (Speed, Time) so having all the extras is pretty damn cool and the fact that you only spend $8 can't be beat. I'm not fond of the "Orange Color" bezel but it only has two buttons so it's pretty idiot proof. Don't loose that little user manual since allot of the functions are somewhat cryptic. I don't know what I may be missing by not having a $50 bike computer aside from not having a wire but until this one breaks I'm happy with my purchase. |
