Americancivilwar.com Review
The brainchild of Andy Warhol back in the heyday of the '70s club culture, Interview magazine has morphed from newsletter and photo essay of the Studio 54 set to the arbiter of what defines cutting edge for the nation (well, at least those in the nation who believe New York to be the center of the universe). It's magazine chic at its highest. When you pick up the magazine, don't look for Julia Roberts; look for the woman who will eclipse Julia in the next five years. The concept of the magazine couldn't be simpler--Q&A format, accompanied by photographs--but the Q is often provided by celebrity interviewers, and the A is usually extremely insightful, intriguing, and candid. And the photographs are the crème de la crème, by A-list lensers like Bruce Weber, Herb Ritts, and Annie Leibovitz (if you don't know them by name, this is definitely not the magazine for you). Nudity and profanity may put off some readers; others will be pleasantly titillated. --Mark Englehart

Stinkeroo
I have been sucked in to getting this magazine twice for subscriptions simply because it was so cheap. Both times I found it to be just awful. If I found one interview in it that I was interested in it was lucky. And then the concept of having a famous person interview another famous person? Well that sounds like a novel concept but it usually really stinks and the interviews and interviewer prove to be inept. I gave it a second chance and it still does nothing for me. They will not get a third chance once this subscription runs out.

Brilliant
The articles are interesting and well written. The photography and artwork is aesthetically pleasing.
Unlike other magazines it doesn't repeat the same articles month after month with the same boring glossy art.

warhola is dead, long live warhola!
this magazine is still one of a kind, but it was much cooler back in the day. bring back the larger format, even if they were printed on cheaper newsprint matte pages, the pictures were gorgeous.
the interview questions are less interesting than they used to be, unless there is a good celebrity interviewer. the magazine is more commercial and glossy, the photos aren't as stunning or creative as they used to be.
i will continue to be a fan but not a fanatic, this isn't as necessary as it used to be. where is the art? up the volume, where is the style???

By far my favorite magazine!
I love the interview format, which is stars interviewing other stars. I particularly liked Gladys Knight and Alicia Keyes. How cool! Beware, it's not a slick glossy, but is finished with matte, if you care. The spreads are still gorgeous in sort of a smoke-filled-room kind of way. Aside from getting interviews with big time stars, they seem to spot and interview people who are on their way up and get to them well before the mainstream media does. Prepare to be way ahead of the gossip curve. This is an Andy Warhol pub and it's always far ahead of the times.

People + the New Yorker = Interview
Interview is an interesting diversion. I prefer Interview over People or Us because the quality of the interview subjects selected really stands out over time. If you haven't read Interview, most articles are people in the arts interviewed by someone they already know or have something in common with. Consider it if you'd be interested by what would happen to People if it were to be run by the staff of the New Yorker from the 70's.
