Reader Rabbit and his friend Sam the Lion are innocently piloting their Dreamship through the sky when--from out of nowhere--a Pie Rat ship attack knocks them for a loop. The ship crashes into a sticky mass of cheese on a high mountaintop, while Sam and Reader Rabbit fall into the sea below. In Reader Rabbit 2nd Grade: Mis-cheese-ious Dreamship Adventures, players must get the intrepid adventurers back to the ship before the Pie Rats take it over. Aimed at children in the second grade, this Reader Rabbit program offers a challenging series of educational games. Players must climb Mount Cheesemore, for example, by completing a series of math formulas. The challenge is to place the cheese blocks correctly, in such a way that all the formulas are balanced. Getting one or two of the numbers to tally may be easy, but completing the third can be quite the test. In another game, crossing a fast-flowing river depends on the user's ability to make compound words, or to identify synonyms and antonyms. The games are perfect for children studying or previewing a second-grade curriculum. They are set at a perfect range of difficulty, simple at first, but with an automatic increase in toughness as players master the spelling, science, and math skills presented in the activities. At higher levels, parental assistance may be required to complete the puzzles. What's more, players must complete some tasks in order to get to others--there is no way to skip out on the language or science drills if you want to rescue the Dreamship. This is not to say that the game is low on entertainment value. It is filled with bright characters and charming animations. As a setting, Mount Cheesemore provides pleasant and consistent goofiness. The educational content is not understated--children will know they are working--but the game environment is fun and offers plenty of enjoyment and variety along the way. --Alyx Dellamonica |

My son enjoyed the software. The sender was very fast. I will order from them again. |

Great learning game! |
My children loved the adventure game so much that they were willing to do the math required to solve the puzzles. It made a great review for them to use over the summer.
They even wanted to play the game again after finishing it the first time.
They have loved Reader Rabbit so much that they play "bad pie rats" and "bunny games" when they build hideouts. Somehow, Reader Rabbit has become the main theme in their pretend play. |

Reader Rabbit 2nd Grade Mis-cheese-ious Dreamship Adventures
Review by GMC, first grader
I like Reader Rabbit 2nd Grade Mis-cheese-ious Dreamship Adventures because I like the cheesy pie-rats. In the game I went inside a mountain, and opened the doors by fixing messages and clocks. I also had to get French bread by making compound words and synonyms, and antonyms. My favorite part was making bugs. I really liked the big monster that came out at the end when we had to find the crackers with the right fractions.
While playing the game I learned that opposites are called Antonyms. I also learned that insects have three parts, head, abdomen, and thorax.
The part I did not like was the mining section where it moved so fast I had to get Mommy to do the work. It did not have a setting to slow it down at all.
Parent note, the cars I had to help with gave me a headache! |

Offers a great variety of skills |

We bought this title for our 6-year old daughter. She was definately captivated by the animation and storyline. There are a multitude of goal-oriented activities which help reinforce math, spelling, language, and science skills. The game becomes more challenging as questions are answered correctly. Kids will be guided through activities without any help from adults. The only drawback was the amount of repitition necessary for achieving final goals. Some children may lose interest in a particular activity before the goal is met. All in all, Reader Rabbit 2nd grade is a great learning tool that kids will enjoy. |
