Let’s take a journey into the world of Vera Wright-Turner, who leads you to wonder if she will play or be played. Will she learn that love is all she needs or will the love she has be too much for her to stand? Only knowing the life of gold diggin’, hustling men and rejecting love, Vera has suddenly found herself in a world where her game has "flipped...and slipped through her fingertips." While trying to retrace her footsteps in search of where her game could be, Vera discovers that the love she has for Dr. Taj Bennett won’t let her go, the hatred that she has for her drug addicted mother is not easy to live with, and ghosts from her past won’t seem to die. Get ready, get set, and run with Vera as Tu-Shonda Whitaker spins a plot explosive, passionate and humorous tale that is destined to be an urban classic! |

Not what I thought |
I didn't read the first book but wanted to read this one based on the reviews. I tried, and tried, and TRIED to get into this book. All the female characters just seemed way too immature to be in their 30's. I actually found myself skipping conversations when the Vera, Angie, Shannon and Lee were talking, and I hardly ever read the conversations between Vera and Aunt Cookie. If I read another page about someone putting on a pair of name brand shoes or article of clothing, I was going to throw the book out the doors of the train. After 2 weeks, I only got to page 112. The story is very well thought out and it tries to pull you in but then, the characters open their mouths and you literally just shake your head. It was so hard to imagine the characters because their descriptions just didn't live up to their vernacular or vocabulary. I mean, some girls are ghetto but everybody has some education in their vocabulary. I wanted to give this book my all but I had to end up returning it because I was just NEVER going to finish it. |

Great read |
This book was wonderfully refreshing, it was nice to read a triple crown book that has positive people and not the normal "thug chicken head" that triple crown is notorious for. Tu-Shonda is a great writer, I have read all of her books and they are all great. The sequel is just as good as the first one Flipside of the Game. Keep up the good work. |

The Bomb Diggity!!!!!!!! |
I read both Flip Side of the Game and Game Over and I was lucky enought to have purchased them at the same time together because after reading Flip Side of the Game I would have been upset if I didn't have the sequel ready to begin reading. Both books were absolutely amazing. I love how the issues that they all dealt with in the book were real issues. I loved how one minute you were laughing hysterically and then crying the next but all in all I could not put the book down took me two days to read Game Over. Although Flip Side of the Game I read in 1 day I refused to go to sleep until I finished it!!!!!!! |
