Disappointing to Carmindy fans

As a fan of Carmindy's segment on "What Not to Wear", I was disappointed that this book did not follow the show's successful format. What is so appealling about Carmindy's WNTW segments is taking ducklings (real women) and turning them into swans. This book features only flawless high fashion models getting different styles of makeup. For instance when the text is discussing how to cover up under eye circles, the photos show a flawless 20-something model with no hint of under eye circles. Ditto the section on eyebrow grooming - the same flawlessly groomed creature looking no different from one photo to the next. There is also a lack of photos that explain to you what the various components in a makeup kit are used for. There are plenty of photos of makeup artfully splashed across the pages, but these photos are arty, not instructive. At least half the photos are of Carmindy staring straight into the camera looking gorgeous, or Carmindy looking gorgeous next to a gorgeous model. The book would have been light years better if she had stuck with the real people make-overs that have made her famous. It feels like a betrayal to have our heroine tneding only to high fashion models - if we looked like that models on these pages wouldn't be watching WNTW! So thumbs down to the editors of this book and to Carmindy for creating a photo spread of herself and high fashion models and not keeping it real.

great book

I thought this book was great. She gives good advice and lots of application tips. She also has a list of recommended products for different price ranges. This book has really helped me with my morning routine!

Just as easy to do at home as she makes it look on television

I was thrilled to find Carmindy had published a book on how to do the Five Minute Face, from her segment on What Not to Wear. I've been a devotee of hers, and the show's, for years, and always secretly wondered if it was as easy as she made it appear.
With Five Minute Face, it is! Carmindy breaks everything down into simple, easy to understand step by step instructions, and walks you through everything, from basic skin care routines, to evening glamour makeup. She even shows you what makeup looks best for you at your particular age in life! How many makeup books do that? None that I've ever owned! The best part of all is, she doesn't tell you that you must buy this particular brand of makeup or that particular brand of makeup; she tells you which basic colours will work for the particular makeup look you want to try, then you can use your own favourite makeup to replicate the look.
I highly recommend this terrifically easy to understand, straightforward makeup book for every girl to have in her house, whether she's eighteen or seventy-eight. You can't go wrong with Carmindy's The Five Minute Face!

Make up

Really just another make up book. Her "trick" is highlighting the face. Good pics and clear language but nothing to launch a thousand ships.

I like this book

This book was recommended to me by my hair dresser. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Carmindy gives suggestions for products - expensive version and economical versions. It's easy to understand and covers a variety of topics.
