Editorial Reviews for  'Drinking Problems at the Fountain of Youth'

Product Description

Short of spending every waking hour engaged in antiaging treatments, is there anything the average woman can do to shave even a few months from her appearance? Do any of the miracle creams, procedures, or magic potions actually make a person look more youthful? Does a woman have to worry about her nasolabial folds if she doesn't even know where they're located on her body? Veteran journalist Beth Teitell aims to find the answers to these questions and many more in her hilarious travels looking for the elusive elixir of youth.

If you feel bad about your neck (or any other body part), if the idea of Botox-filled syringes fills you with horror, if you don't want to empty your wallet to pay for $475 serums that promise to cheer up aging skin or the hourly cost of a facial-fitness coach, or if you don't believe the claims of antiaging gummy bears or age-defying bottled water, then Drinking Problems at the Fountain of Youth is the book for you. There's not a woman in America who won't see herself in Teitell's struggles or come away feeling that the enormous amount of energy, time, and money we spend trying to restore our bodies to the way they were when we were twenty could be better spent elsewhere.

With honesty, outrage, and wit, Teitell goes deep into the youth-at-any-cost culture and takes it apart from the inside out. And then she reassures us that there is hope—there are things we can do to look and feel younger, and ways we can learn to stop worrying about looking older.

Drinking Problems at the Fountain of Youth is for every woman who isn't as young as she used to be—a book of wisdom and advice, and a laugh-out-loud look at our age-obsessed culture.

Customer Reviews for  'Drinking Problems at the Fountain of Youth'

I loved this book
I love this book. The author articulates and commiserates about the awkward transition to middle age. She finds humor and embraces a great attitude with helpful hint along the way. Anyone who feels they are fighting the uphill battle to stay young will love this book. It's original, fresh and very funny.

More Effective Than Botox for Removing Unsightly Frown Lines
Clever, charming, compassionate - and a big laugh. This book is a pain-free injection of insight about aging in today's youth obsessed society. I've read the author's articles and know that she's a smarty pants with a great wit - and she's even better with room to stretch out. I thought this would be the sort of book I'd pick up and read bit by bit - wrong, I couldn't put it down! I'm giving this to at least 5 people for Christmas.

A Must Read - Veritable Bubble Bath for Your Brain!
For anyone who has ever felt too.... Old, Wrinkly, Saggy, Baggy, Fat, Plain, or Past Your Prime, Beth Teitell's latest book is an absolute must read. Written with kindness and humor, DRINKING PROBLEMS AT THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH provides an insightful and delightful look at just how we got to this crazy place where enormous sums of energy and money are spent fighting a process that is INEVITABLE. I literally could not put this book down. It was like a bubble bath for my brain - soothing and energizing at the same time. You won't want to miss this gem of a read.

Funny and Insightful, Great for Men too!
I picked this book up as a gift for my mother after a few pages, not expecting it to be for men too. I started flipping through it and immediately began to enjoy it: the message is great for everyone and the book is genuine, funny, and thoroughly enjoyable. This is well worth a read even if you aren't fixated on looking young, it is a great story about the American obsession with youth and takes a thoughtful look at the aging process.
