Product Description |
|
The third volume collecting Neil Gaiman's seminal, award-winning series starring the Dream King in deluxe format. ABSOLUTE SANDMAN VOL. 3 presents several key SANDMAN tales in a slipcased hardcover edition, including "Brief Lives," in which the Sandman's sister Delirium prevails upon her older brother to help her find their missing sibling, Destruction. But their journey through the Waking World has dramatic repercussions for their family and also for the relationship between the Sandman and his wayward son, Orpheus. Also included is the spectacular short story "Ramadan," a tale of a young king of ancient Baghdad and the deal he strikes with The Sandman to grant his city immortality, with spectacular illustrations by P. Craig Russell (Fairy Tales of Oscar Wilde, The Jungle Book). |

Two Words........ |
Chibi Endless!!
I love how the first two appeared, and the bit in the gallery is perfect!
And yes, the rest is up to standard- ie Gaiman's amazing standard!
Beautiful art, but the story lines! just wow. The characters have a reality to them. Delirium, in particular, reminds me of someone I know. The stories unfold so naturally.
I look forward to vol 4. |

Absolute Necessity |
|
Neil Gaiman's Sandman is a comic book + Literary genius + Great artwork + Stories from all over the world + much more. The absolute edition has new stories that were never before published. It's a visual and mental treat. If you are ever wondering whether to buy the TPB's or the absolute edition, I would suggest the Absolute edition - as all the original 75 stories from Sandman are collected in dust cover 4 volumes vs 12 TPB's. So price-wise it doesn't make a big difference. I have read this 3 times in the last 10 years and every time there is something new that I find. Like for example the library in the dream king's castle has books that famous authors thought but never wrote like in the sidelines if you you look for it. This book vol.3 introduces the "Inn at the world's end" a place where the currency is stories. The current series by Vertigo called "The house of Mystery" expounds on this concept. All in all a must buy. |

Book poorly packed by Americancivilwar |
i know the review is for the book but i am just disappointed with the poor packaging by amazon on this book. i haven't read the book yet but i don't care because i am a Neil Gaiman fan, so i know i would like this book. however the packaging was done poorly.
i've been an amazon customer for about 3 years now but this is the first time that i will complain about their packaging.
my order was sent from one of their fulfillment centers:
Americancivilwar.com, LLC
1050 South Columbia
Campbellsville, KY
the book is heavy but they did not provide any cushion, and i received the package slightly opened because the package was not properly sealed.
*** update ***
amazon ended up giving me a %15 discount for this issue.

Great volume of a fun series |
|
This third installment of the Sandman series is great. Each volume seems to follow a theme or story, and this one was particularly poignant and intimate. It had a different feel than the other two volumes, and as usual was imaginative and beautifully illustrated. As someone who was not familiar with the series prior to reading them in the volume form, I am really impressed! |

amazing |
|
Like the previous two volumes, this is an absolutely fabulous book. The artwork is fantastic and almost as good as Gaiman's incredible writing. I especially liked the issue called "Ramadhan" and the "Worlds End" stories. |
