Editorial Reviews for  'The Time Paradox (Artemis Fowl, Book 6)'

Product Description
Artemis's mother has contracted a deadly disease--and the only cure lies in the brain fluid of  African lemurs. Unfortunately, Artemis himself was responsible for making the lemurs extinct five years ago. Now he must enlist the aid of his fairy friends to travel back in time and save the lemur. Not only that, but he must face his deadliest foe yet: his younger self.

Customer Reviews for  'The Time Paradox (Artemis Fowl, Book 6)'

Oh what a wonderful time I had...
Wow, I had been waiting for the next one to come out for a while, and it did not disappoint. Mainly because of the Holly/Artemis thing that I will not go into detail about to avoid spoilers. Very funny, very witty, very awesome.

Something silly on every page
My 14 year old son and I both laughed out loud. There was something new to giggle about on every page (non-spoiler samples: the espresso-drinking toddler on page 10, the parrot who cries "Who's your mama?" on page 300...) This is kid's lit that an adult can have for dessert. It's the 6th in the series (they aren't getting old yet). We've both read books 1 through 5; probably two thirds of the gags are lost if you haven't. This series is just plain fun. It lacks the moral challenges of Harry Potter and the ostentatious vocabulary of the Inheritance series but it's got way more giggles than either. My 14 year old was around 9 when we started on both Artemis Fowl and Eragon/Inheritance. At the time he was more impressed with Eragon. Now we're reading Brisingr/Inheritance and he said, "Wow, this is lame," but he's grown into Artemis Fowl. We also just read Bad Monkeys, our break into adult fantasy. We both gave it a three.

Colfer still amazes me!
I am 23 years old and even though Colfer's Artemis Fowl series is aimed at a much younger audience I can't help but love it! This series is funny, entertaining, thrilling and very well written.

Another great Artemis adventure
The Time Paradox starts off when Artemis returning home 3 years later. He now has 2 little brothers and he's growing up. This book is action packed the entire way, there's no rest at all in this book. It also seems to have the beginnings of a romance between Artemis and Holly. Artemis isn't the "bad guy" of the previous books. The plot of this book is Artemis must go back in time to save a Lemur and he has to face his younger self. It's very complicated at times and hard to follow. This book also is a bit on the disturbing side when it comes to the Extincionists. These guys are messed up. The budding romance between Holly and Artemis is a bit odd considering she's an adult and he's a teen. I'm curious how this will work out and be moraly right at the same time (although they are 2 different species....hmmm). An reintroduction of a old enemy is here too. The ending of this book leaves it open for another afterwards and frankly if this is the end, it's upsetting.

All in all, an excellent book in the Artemis Fowl series, ideal for kids and adults.

Another great Book on CD.
Dear Artemis Fowl, how his adventures keep going on strong. This Book CD is packaged in a cardboard slip case so handle with care, NO jewel case here.

Why oh why did they change the narrator.
Nathanial Parker DOSE NOT read this and the New narrator hasn't got a clue to even copy the original voices. Butler, changes from an intelligent Irish Heavy to a dumb Cockney thug, through voice alone. Not to mention the other changes. The feel of the story telling in someone else's voice after such a long run of books is very different, this is now the sixth book, and a great shame. Only buy this version if you cannot get the Nathanial Parker one.
I have never found him reading this book anywhere so maybe he was unavailable or it is a financial change.

This is still very well read and superbly written. The story is excellent even if you have to get to grips with a new voice for each of the parts played. Not available in the UK had to order from the USA. Worth the effort.
