Perfect for the math lover in your life |
Math Curse is a delightful introdution to some of the most famous formulas and figures in mathematics. I've always hated math, but I was thoroughly charmed by this whimsical adventure illustrated by the incomparable Lane Smith.
For younger children, Math Curse is an excellent way to gently nurture an interest in math. Thanks to Jon Scieszka's lively text, the fundamentals of higher math are easy to understand. |

Funny and Educational |

Jon Scieszka never disappoints when he puts out a book. We are huge fans of all of his picture books for younger children, but I believe that he has outdone himself with Math Curse. It is by far, one of my son's favorite books that we read over and over again. This is typical Scieszka humor laced with lots of cool math riddles that makes kids think and learn while laughing themselves silly all the way through the book. It's companion, Science Verse is also a great book and we are hoping that there are some other subjects at school that he can spin into another book like this one. The illustrations by Lane Smith are great as well and add an additional element of fun to the book. A must for any home library collection! |

Have you ever had the math curse? Well, in the book Math Curse, a young boy gets put under the math curse. It all started when his teacher said, "You know, you can think of almost everything as a math problem." That got his mind turning. After that, EVERYTHING was a math problem to him. This little boy had a creative mind. 24 cupcakes, 25 students, 365 days, 52 weeks, 12 months hmm... Will this curse ever leave him alone?
This story is realistic fiction. The author, Jon Scieszka, does a wonderful job explaining every thing. It is easy to understand and to follow. I think that anyone who knows how to read would enjoy this book. Never before have I read a book quite like this one. It is almost like a Roald Dahl book, where your mind will be wondering what will happen untill the very end. Personally, I loved this book, and I am sure that you will too. |
