Product Description |
|
Ever since Barack Obama was young, Hope has lived inside him. From the beaches of Hawaii to the streets of Chicago, from the jungles of Indonesia to the plains of Kenya, he has held on to Hope. Even as a boy, Barack knew he wasn't quite like anybody else, but through his journeys he found the ability to listen to Hope and become what he was meant to be: a bridge to bring people together. This is the moving story of an exceptional man, as told by Nikki Grimes and illustrated by Bryan Collier, both winners of the Coretta Scott King Award. Barack Obama has motivated Americans to believe with him, to believe that every one of us has the power to change ourselves and change our world. |

You have GOT to be kidding me.......... |
I didn't read the book. I passed by it as I shopped at Target. The title stopped me in my tracks and simply made me want to gag. Obviously the liberals have no shame at all. Despite what the title may imply, Obama is NOT the Messiah. Politically, the man hasn't accomplished a thing at all, except hypnotizing the most unthinking sector of the US.
GAG. Do the libs think we're all in awe and in, as another reviewer nice put it, "breathless worship" of the man? If someone published a book about a conservative with such a title, it would make national news and liberals would rabidly (and yet euphorically) use the book as an example to demonstrate how conservatives are such duped, dopey "sheep."
Want to be a smarter, better-informed American? Start with reading the Weekly Standard magazine. Gasp! Conservative DO have brains! |

A wonderful book for children |
|
This is a beautifully illustrated book about our President-elect. It is inspirational for children in that it stresses the value of education and striving to do always do your best. It is a must for every library and a nice addition to home collections. A+ |

Yikes! |
When I first took a look at the book, it reminded me so much of the Martin Luther King Jr. children's book I had read back in the day.
The thing is I liked the Martin Luther King Jr. book. Not THIS!!
A scary look into propaganda at its core. And aimed at impressionable children with this?! His campaign was that he was made to be an everyday guy like us right? But this read more like a Jesus Christ: Son of God story book and it FORCES that idea onto you. And for that type of idea to even be present in a politically-themed kid's book is just over-the-top brainwashing. The fact that this came out even BEFORE the election is just ridiculous.
The words, "TOO SOON!!!" come screaming to me too. The publishers and writer are getting ahead of themselves here. He wasn't even elected yet, let alone inaugurated as President.
WAIT until he's done something people!!
People are wrong though. This was a history lesson. I was reminded of the history lecture I listened to that dealt with the propaganda during World War II and the Communist Party.
I have nothing so far against this man. But if it keeps up like this...
Parents please BEWARE!! If you want a better book similar to this, pick up something else. |

So Sad |
|
What a shame. I was sure that the "anointed one" would have walked on water as a youth. Is he saving that miracle for a more glorious occasion? Perhaps he will walk across the Potomac and into the White House. Save us Barack! Perform a miracle...turn America into France!! This type of adoration for a man who has done nothing significant in his lifetime, makes me sick to my stomach. |
