A beginner's book about bubbles |

This simple book with a catchy title explains how the U.S. became susceptible to a variety of rapidly popping financial bubbles that will all have unhappy endings. David Wiedemer, Robert A. Wiedemer, Cindy Spitzer and Eric Janszen have made their book easy to read, and it certainly describes the current forces at work on Wall Street. Yet, like other predictive books, it goes into more speculative detail than needed in the first section, which considers what factors could trigger a multistage bubble collapse. Readers may find the details in the book's second half more useful. It explains the investment vehicles that the authors believe could provide some upside protection when the bubbles burst. getAbstract recommends this intriguing, start-up introduction as an accessible first course on market survival, though it seems to need more extensive source citations. Such notes would have made this even more authoritative. |

NO PROFIT IN THIS BOOK |

Again, this is another Armageddon type book that doesn't deliver on its titled promise. There's little information on "how to profit" when the "Bubble" pops. If you like reading "Doom" books for fun, or have been living under a rock, go for it. That wasn't the reason I ordered it. I made the mistake of believing the title had something to do with the contents. Once again, just another review of how we got where we are but with no practical advice, specific advice, or worthwhile ideras on how to profit or position when and if in such a scenario. Anyone watching the Wall Street and Banking Meltdown can agree that this is just another talking head with no idea of what to do. |

interesting read |
I agree with a previous reviewer regarding the same information being replayed over and over again. I'm new to this subject, and initially found the book interesting, but found that the authors seemed to be re-hashing the same points more times than were necessary.
I did enjoy the book, but now think I would probably check it out of the library instead of purchasing it. |

Sometimes, simple is good. |
This is a simplistic synopsis of the current state of the economy and offers some simple suggestions on how to deal with it. It's a pretty good read for the non-economist who's looking for a quick and easy grasp of the big picture. It does get a bit tedious and repetitious at times and has enough typos to keep a proofer busy for a week. There's also a less than subtle self-serving purpose as the authors attempt to drive the reader to their web site. The only problem is it appears they haven't updated the web site with any current information since the book was published.
Nonetheless, an interesting and quick read for those looking for the summary view of the world's economy today. |
