Customer Reviews for  'The Man Within (Feline Breeds, Book 2)'

The plot was lacking, and the characters didn't interest me enough to offset the plot problem.
This is book 2 in the Feline Breeds series. The Genetics Council used genetic experimentation to create humans with animal DNA, called Breeds. The Breeds were tortured, experimented upon and kept in captivity, but eventually escaped. The Council and other groups are trying to capture and/or kill them.

Roni is human. Taber, a Breed, is part tiger (or other large cat). He has known and helped Roni for years as she grew up in a troubled home environment. When she was 19, they were on the verge of a romantic relationship, when they each received a note from the other saying that they didn't want to be with each other. His note to her said that she was too young and not the kind of woman he needed. Her note to him said she found him too rough, crude and frightening and she wanted someone who treated her softly. They each were hurt and went their separate ways.

CAUTION SPOILERS:
Circumstances bring them together three years later but she continues to be angry because of his letter. This conflict continues for more than half of the book. We then learn that Dayan forged both letters and delivered them to both Roni and Taber, for the purpose of breaking them up. I did not enjoy this conflict at all. A simple phone call (saying I got your letter, goodbye) would have exposed the forgery and avoided the conflict. The conflict was based on inaccurate assumptions, which is one of my pet peeves. Later, when they do get together, they have sex at least twice before they discover that the letters were false. I suppose this was to have anger-based sex scenes, but it didn't work for me.

For her own safety, Roni is staying with Taber and other Breeds. A subplot involves her father trying to kidnap her to turn her over to enemies of the Breeds.

Sexual language: strong/erotic. Number of sex scenes: seven, some several pages long. Setting: Sandy Hook, Kentucky and Virginia. Copyright: 2003. Genre: erotic paranormal romance.

Love this series
The Man Within (Feline Breeds, Book 2)

The characters really are the heart of these books and while they are ment to stand alone I find them much better if I can read them in some sort of logical order as other characters are referenced and its nice to know what they are all about.

Worth reading but best to find out the order and read them that way.

Roni and Taber
Fifteen months ago Roni (a human) and Taber (a breed) had an incredibly intense encounter where Taber unknowingly marked Roni as his mate and then deceit and lies drove them apart. Roni received a letter from Taber stating she was not woman enough for him and Taber receives a letter from Roni stating that he is too rough for her. Since then Roni has stayed away from Taber and Taber has steered clear of Roni, even though their bodies cry out for each other.
When news breaks of possible mating marks between breeds Roni realizes that is exactly what is on her shoulder and is determined that no one find out. When her deceitful father sells the information she is attacked on camera and the world sees her mark, including Taber.
When Taber witnesses Roni being roughed up on camera he moves into action. He is going to go and get his mate whether she likes it or not. But this time he is determined to keep his lust and passion on a leash so she will no longer think he is too rough for her. But his control is even weaker, the first thing he does when he catches her is push her against a tree and kiss her, releasing the hormone that triggers her intense sexual hunger...then its just a matter of time. What Taber does not realize is that Roni loves his animal urges and is determined to get him to lose control so he realizes that she is woman enough for him. When Taber does let go of his restraint, can Roni handle his urges? What will happen when they learn the letters they received were forged? Will Roni's deranged father lead the Counsil members to them? Read this book and find out.

Once again Lora Leigh has written a truly memorable tale with this book. Taber is a domineering alpha and Roni is a spunky female that is determined to give as good as she gets. The pages practically sizzle with the lust and passion on the pages and the story draws you in with a compelling plot and believable characters. I like the fact that you do not have to read the books in order to enjoy the story. As a huge fan of Lora Leigh books I can say this is one of her better tales. I highly recommend this book and will be reading more of this author.

Kudos Lora, keep the breed books coming.

The Man Within Feline Breed 2 Lola Leigh
Like all Lola Leigh books, this one was written just as well. I enjoy it because it shows a part of society dealing with people that are slightly different in their make-up (referring to their genes). I believe it is Lola Leigh way with this books of showing us how some people deal with different make up of human race. It also shows how there are people out there who would harm and degrade these Feline Breeds because their genes are not totally human. As the feline breed try to fit into the society of humans, it shows how they are very protective of their women, and will fight for what they believe in. I have read this book twice, and have lent it to a few of my friends. I had only one bad reaction from this book, and that was about the sexual content in the book. The person in question refer it too being almost pornography, but my answer to that is deep down, she was probably wishing she had some of what she was reading. Yes the sexual content is rather explicit, there is also a good story line, that I believe has a moral clause. This same person who was making the complaint was also asking if I had anymore books by this author, and my answer was you can go to Americancivilwar.com, and order what you need. Keep up the good work.

Hot Hot Hot!
Roni and Taber's story was very well written. Leigh was able to draw me from the very begining with Roni's witty personality. The characters are very well defined and draw you in for more. I love this series!
