When Martin Grace enters the hip Philadelphia coffee shop Cornelia Brown manages, her life changes forever. But little does she know that her newfound love is only the harbinger of greater changes to come. Meanwhile, across town, Clare Hobbs—eleven years old and abandoned by her erratic mother—goes looking for her lost father. She crosses paths with Cornelia while meeting with him at the café, and the two women form an improbable friendship that carries them through the unpredictable currents of love and life. Love Walked In, the first novel by award-winning poet Marisa de los Santos, is bursting with keen insight and beautifully rendered prose. Invoking classic movies to illuminate the mystery and wonder of love in all its permutations, Love Walked In is an uplifting debut that marks the entrance of an enchanting literary voice. “Love Walked In, by Marisa de los Santos, is the kind of book that makes you want to hunker down on a chilly day in a comfy chair and read straight through ’til dark. . . .This [is a] poignant, heart-tugging story about a single woman and a little girl who develop an unlikely bond.” —The Washington Post Book World

A Perfectly Packaged Tale |
Marisa de los Santos is a brilliant writer and this books perfection is based in her talent.
You are drawn into the book from the first page and a sweet and endearing love story unfolds from there. It's very sweet but not sappy and falls away from the typical love story shining brightly in it's wit and charm.
If your looking for a light but unique book that leaves you feeling good about people and life read Love Walked In. It will stay with you for years to come as an every day fairy tale- all lose ends tied up and warmth within your heart. |

My New Favorite Book |
|
I loved every minute I had with this book. I know that sounds weird, but it was such a passionate book that really made you feel the love between the characters. This is my first book from this author and I was real impressed with how well it was written. Will Definately be looking for more from Maria De Los Santos. |

So boring I couldn't get past the 2nd chapter. |
|
Ironic (or maybe not) that one of the previous reviewers grabbed this book off the "bargain rack." That's about where I think it belongs. So dull and the endless references to old movies and actors was completely off-putting. I'm glad I didn't buy it and got it FREE from the library. I'll be returning it pronto. |

Yummy! |
|
I grabbed this book off the bargain rack at my favorite bookstore. I'd never heard of the author or the book. After some hesitation, I dove into the first chapter. Wow! It swallowed me whole. 48 hours later, I found a new favorite author. She writes beautifully, uses actual vocabulary, and there weren't any awkward "love" scenes. For an accidental find, I am VERY happy. Best $2 I've ever spent! |

Loved It After First 30 Pages |
|
I absolutely loved this book, but it took me at least 30 pages to even start liking the book. Kind-hearted Cornelia is very annoying in the beginning of the story. She is a romantic. She compares everything that happens in her life to movie scenes and actors and actresses. She is a much more child-like character than the actual child Claire. Claire's section of the book I liked right from the start. She is a child living with her mother who seems to be suffering with a bi-polar disorder. It is when these two characters, Cornelia and Claire, come together that you fall in love with the story. Cornelia will touch your heart with her kindness. Claire will bring you to tears. Together they will make you glad that you were given the chance to get to know them. |
