Product Description |
For her exciting debut in hardcover, New York Times bestselling author Karen Rose delivers a heart-stopping suspense novel that picks up where DIE FOR ME left off, with a detective determined to track down a brutal murderer.
Special Agent Daniel Vartanian has sworn to find the perpetrator of multiple killings that mimic a 13-year-old murder linked to a collection of photographs that belonged to his brother, Simon, the ruthless serial killer who met his demise in DIE FOR ME. Daniel is certain that someone even more depraved than his brother committed these crimes, and he's determined to bring the current murderer to justice and solve the mysterious crime from years ago.
With only a handful of images as a lead, Daniel's search will lead him back through the dark past of his own family, and into the realm of a mind more sinister than he could ever imagine. But his quest will also draw him to Alex Fallon, a beautiful nurse whose troubled past reflects his own. As Daniel becomes attached to Alex, he discovers that she is also the object of the obsessed murderer. Soon, he will not only be racing to discover the identity of this macabre criminal, but also to save the life of the woman he has begun to love.

Another Thriller |
|
This is my third Karen Rose thriller. While many say they are full of suspense, I don't feel that so much (maybe I've read so many thrillers, they don't put me on the edge of my seat anymore) but it was entertaining and did move along. I liked Daniel's character in Die For Me and was pleased he got his own story. Alex was a likable character and they made a nice romantic couple. Once again KR left the ending so you have a key to the next book but yet wraps up some of the storyline. I thought perhaps there were a few too many characters in this one and long enough that by the time I got to he last chapters, I was almost confused at who all the villans were. One name came up I didn't remember hearing at all in the book. Perhaps we hear more of him in the next book. I was curious as to why the Sheriff did what he did-that wasn't explained. Also was disappointed that Daniel's sister can't be more forgiving towards him. Perhaps by the next book she will get it together. After all Daniel was very young when all of the terrible events took place and young people don't always make the right choices. If I had one main criticism of the book it was the fact I felt there were a few too many brutal murders of young women. I think that was a bit over done. After 3 books in a row on serial killers, I will read a few light books One can only fill their mind with just so many books on brutal violence and you need a different direction. I think KR is probably an excellent author and hope she branches out into other types of books without quite so much violence. |

Great to have after surgery ! |
Was unable to get about for weeks after an unexpected surgery. I spent those hours with audio books from Americancivilwar.com. It was easy to be completely enthralled in this story. Karen Rose is one of my favorite writers. Was thrilling and kept me on the "edge of my sheets" so to speak. Well worth the time to read or listen !

An edge of your seat thriller |
Reviewed by Nikki Pringle for Reader Views (6/08)
Special Agent Daniel Vartanian has just returned to his job at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation after spending the last two weeks in Philadelphia helping local law enforcement track down a serial killer who claimed 17 lives. The killer was Daniel's younger brother, Simon, whom everyone had thought to be dead for over a decade. Daniel and Simon's father, Judge Vartanian, knew the truth. He was the one who used the sins from his younger son's years in Dutton to blackmail him in to staying away. Then he told everyone Simon had died and staged a funeral for his son. The judge's bad decision allowed Simon to continue his evil ways and claim amongst his victims, the Judge and his wife.
Alex Fallon works as an ER nurse in Cincinnati. She moved to Ohio from Georgia when she was 16-years-old. Taken in by her aunt and uncle after the murder of her twin sister, suicide of her mother, and her own attempted suicide, Alex hasn't returned to her hometown of Dutton since. Then she gets a call telling her that Bailey, the daughter of her mother's live-in boyfriend all those years ago, has gone missing. Alex is listed as the emergency contact for Bailey's 5-year-old daughter Hope, whom Alex never knew existed, and she is forced to return to Dutton to care for Hope as she tries to figure out if Bailey left of her own volition or was taken against her will.
Daniel's first day back at work is a busy one. He gets a call about a body found in a ditch. The female victim has been beaten and suffocated, then wrapped in a brown blanket and left in a conspicuous area to be found easily by anyone passing by. One of the medics on the scene mentions that the case is eerily reminiscent of one he worked 13 years before, from the injuries the victim sustained down to the blanket she was left in. That victim was named Alicia Tremaine and she was a 16-year-old high-school student from Dutton. Alicia's mother killed herself the day her daughter's body was found, and her twin sister Alex also attempted to take her own life that day. Alicia's killer was never found. Is there a copycat on the loose, or, as more people with ties to Dutton disappear and more victims are located, is someone trying to send a message to the locals and law enforcement about sins of the past?
Karen Rose does an excellent job tying the characters past and present lives together. Dutton is no Mayberry, and as the story plays out you are left to wonder just how many of the townsfolk are involved in the ugliness from the past and the dark clouds looming over the present. Scenes pass by quickly when the action is meant to be fast-paced and languidly when it is not. Fans of mystery writers like Tami Hoag and Tess Gerritsen will be pleased with Karen Rose's latest novel. In "Scream For Me," fear is palpable, the terror is thick enough to be cut with a knife and the physical attraction pumping through Daniel and Alex's veins can't be denied.

Another Great Read |
Scream For Me is a chilling tale of romantic suspense by Karen Rose.
Special Agent Daniel Vartanian is back on the job after dealing with a ruthless serial killer, his brother Simon. Simon left behind a group of photos showing despicable things being down to young women. These photos haunt Daniel. When woman start to show up dead in town, Daniel is convinced that somehow these photos are connected.
Alex Fallon rushes to Georgia when her step sister is reported missing leaving a young child to be cared for. When Local law enforcement is unwilling to help, she then turns to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Her first meeting with Daniel shocks him. Alex resembles one of the victims in those old photos. Alex's twin sister Alicia was murdered years ago and it has always haunted her soul.
Soon more women are turning up dead and Alex is in the killers sight. Daniel is drawn to Alex's strength and beauty. He will do anything within his powers to protect this woman who has worked her way into his heart.
Daniel makes Alex feel alive and willing to take chances. These two meet and fall in love under stressful circumstances. Will their happiness outlast the killers plans to harm Alex?
Karen Rose books are a must have for me. They keep be clued to the pages, trying to figure out who is the killer. Scream For Me is gut wrenching story, the killer is pure evil and will make you wary. The romance between Alex and Daniel is sensational, these two characters have gone through so much and to have found each other is priceless. I am patiently waiting for Karen's next book...

An outstanding book |
Thirteen years ago, Alex Fallon's life fell apart when her twin sister was raped and murdered-and her mother committed suicide the same night. Alex was only sixteen at the time of the deaths, so her aunt and uncle took her in and raised her. She hasn't returned home since and has repressed memories of what really happened that night.
When Alex receives a phone call that her stepsister Bailey is missing and Hope, her four-year-old daughter is left all alone, Alex rushes home to care for her niece. Hope isn't talking to anyone and seems to be in shock. Bailey used to be a drug addict, but she's been clean for the last five years-and she would never abandon her child like this.
Special Agent Daniel Vartanian is the brother of Simon Vartanian, the same Simon who killed his parents and was discovered to be a serial killer. Simon is now dead but he left Daniel with a mystery to solve. Simon had some disturbing pictures of crimes being committed against young girls, but without the perpetrators' faces in the pictures, and without knowing who the girls are, there is nothing Daniel can do.
When a woman is found murdered, in the same fashion that Alex's sister was thirteen years ago, the police start to wonder if they have a copycat killer on their hands. One by one, women are turning up dead in the same way and the police have no idea who is killing them.
Will Daniel be able to find this elusive killer and bring Bailey safely home? Will the girls in the pictures be discovered and their perpetrators brought to justice? Scream For Me is exhilarating, white-knuckle suspense that will keep you turning the pages, breathless to find out what happens next. This is the best book that I have read in a while, and I was very impressed by Rose's writing. The suspense is non-stop, never letting up until the very satisfying conclusion. Scream For Me is captivating, thrilling and exciting from the first word to the last.
