The New York Times bestselling sensation that's "Steel Magnolias set in Manhattan" (USA Today)-now in paperback.
Juggling the demands of her yarn shop and single-handedly raising a teenage daughter has made Georgia Walker grateful for her Friday Night Knitting Club. Her friends are happy to escape their lives too, even for just a few hours. But when Georgia's ex suddenly reappears, demanding a role in their daughter's life, her whole world is shattered.
Luckily, Georgia's friends are there, sharing their own tales of intimacy, heartbreak, and miracle making. And when the unthinkable happens, these women will discover that what they've created isn't just a knitting club: it's a sisterhood. |

Better than most of the reviews |
|
I thought the book was good and am looking forward to the movie. I didn't think it was nearly as bad as most of the reviews made it seem. I had put off reading it because of the reviews and am glad I finally gave in and bought/read the book. |

A good, cozy read |
|
This is a well written, comfortable book that you can't put down or can't wait to get back to. Groups of people drawn together for a cause or hobby are the most enjoyable subjects. All bring backgrounds, beliefs, and baggage to the weekly gathering which make the reader curious and content. Identification with the characters is always a goal of this reader. The author has done a good job of allowing us to look into their lives. |

New knitter loves book |
As a new knitter, I can see all of these personalities in play and my own local yarn shop (LYS is the lingo). Knitting brings lots of folks together for very different reasons.
This novel isn't life-altering or mind-blowing, but it's very cozy and comfortable. I guess I'd call it a very accurate portrayal of knitting in this new millennium.
It's a fast read and a good book for knitters old and new. |

Fun But Thin |
|
I enjoyed reading it and am glad I did, but found it predictable with 2-D characters. Also, not really believable because everyone is either physically beautiful or wealthy or both. It's fun and entertaining but kind of forgettable. |

Loved it...loved it...loved it!! |
|
I can't understand all the negative reviews about this book. It is almost like I read a different book than they did. Just goes to show how different tastes are. I loved this book and wished it hadn't taken me so long to find it. Just ordered "Comfort Food" and can't wait to read it. I am sure glad I didn't read the reviews on here before I read the book. Won't ever make that mistake again...Thanks, Kate Jacobs! |
