Christine Feehan has worked magic on a legion of fans with her darkly thrilling Carpathian tales. Now she delivers the provocative story of a female vampire slayer who proves as seductive and mysterious as the night dwellers she stalks... For as long as she can remember, Natalya has been fighting demons: first in the form of childhood nightmares, then later, immortal creatures that kill and prey on the innocent, including her own twin brother. Whether Carpathian or vampire, she slays those who murder by night, and has no equal until she is seduced by the very thing she considers her enemy... A Carpathian who has seen nearly everything in his endless existence, Vikirnoff doesn't think he can be surprised anymore until he faces a woman who rivals him as a vampire hunter. A formidable and gifted warrior in her own right, Natalya has a nature that is strangely familiar, yet alien, to his own. Who is this mysterious female who fears no one, not even him? Natalya could be the key to the survival of the Carpathians, but all Vikirnoff is certain of is that she is the key to his heart and soul... |

Absolutely One Of My Very Best Favorites Of The "Dark Series".Dark Demon (The Carpathians (Dark) Series, Book 13) |

exciting and emotional |

This book is about a vampire huntress named Natayla who is half Carpathian and Mage(wizard). She hates all vampires and Carpathians. She accuses the Carpathians of killing her twin brother who she has protected from their cruel grandfather who is a mage. Vikirnoff who is a ancient Carpathian is trying to track her down because she could be the key to the survival of the Carpathian race. Vikirnoff is the brother of Nicolae from the book "Dark Destiny". Vikirnoff has seen a picture of Natayla and knows that she is his lifemate. While battling vampires in the Carpathian mountains the two become connected in destroying the plot of vampires and mage against the Carpathian people. |

my favorite of the series |

Some of the other books were very predictable. For instance, I felt a real letdown with Gregory. This one has more action while keeping the spice. Though, has anyone else noticed that the men on the cover don't usually match the man in the book? Where did the blue eyes come from? |

How could you fail to like this book? |
It has everything: romance, action, magik, history, humor, friendship, two peacefully co-existing plots, and, of course, a little sex (don't like the scenes? Skip 'em!).
The story of the main two lifemates is told in vivid detail, thankfully not relegated to subplot status. The time Feehan takes in developing the relationship between Natalya and Vikirnoff only adds to each battle sequence. Couple that with the co-plot of the vampires and wizards vs. Carpathians, and the truth about the increasing struggle for survival of both sides is finally brought into fascinating focus.
I thought it would be annoying to revisit all the characters mentioned in previous books, but it only added to the interest for me. Knowing what became of them all, knowing that they had survived and made lives for themselves. It was gratifying.
Don't worry about the addendum's at the back...some people like them, some people don't. I didn't both with them, and I don't feel like I lost anything.
This isn't meant to be a deep, philosophical book. But it's cohesive, well-written, doesn't insult your intelligence and leaves you wanting more. You could not ask for a better installment, and the questions answered in this book make it a fulfilling read to faithful followers of the Dark Series. So just read it, already! |
