Lil has returned in another steamy vampire romance novel. Her made vamp love is still hot and in charge. Daemons have come into the picture and have been bothering Lil at work and at home. Her stellar fashionable close are covered in green slime and her heart is pulled between making her mother happy and being with the man she loves. Vampires have never been so hot and sexy. |

This one felt lazy SPOILERS |
I've just finished this book and I have some mixed feelings for it.
I have only read the two books prior to Just One Bite and it's been quite some time since those reads. Maybe I've matured as a reader, maybe I've got a wider reading background than before, or maybe this latest book was a bit on the contrived side.
Especially towards the end all I could think about is how a firm editor perhaps could have really shaped this book. It reads like a first draft to me and the plot is too easy and grows superficially. It seemed like maybe the author had a deadline and not enough time to revise.
That aside, I think this novel is somewhat confusing. How can a woman be a Saint, a direct link to God, and offer up her neighbor, albeit her rude neighbor, to be posessed and then "sliced and diced and sent straight to hell". That doesn't scream SAINT to me. Nor does the fact that this same woman has sons with body parts in their glove compartments and never seems to bat an eye at the...immorality of killing.
I gotta say as well that the ending left us in the exact same place as the former book. I'm kind of sick of going around in circles with this Ty character. I know that's kind of a major plot point but...really...there wasn't any real development in the relationship and now we have to wait a-whole-nother year just to know what happens again. I think it was a pretty crummy cliffhanger.
However, the author is funny. Down right funny with a twist on old cliché phrases. She also has a great grasp on the intrigue of match making, I'm some what surprised by the depth of the characters who walk into Lil's office. So that's a big plus, besides I am still entertained which is, you know, a big deal.
This book seemed to focus more on the adventure...and...suspense and in the end it wasn't quite developed all the way. Hopefully the next book will be more focused and edited better.
Oh yeah and I don't like the cover so much either but you know...what can you do? |

A fun vampire story you've got to read! |

Lil is a fun & charismatic character. This was a very funny installment of this series. I enjoyed every minute of this book, from death threats to family "hunts". Definately an A++. |

Dead End Dating, Book Four |
Lil Marchette has been around for centuries and has seen just about all the world has to off, the good and the bad. Now she resides in New York and owns Manhattan's hottest dating service. Lil's clients are not always human either. Still, the last person Lil expected to se was Vinnie Balducci, a member of the Snipers of Otherworldly Beings "SOB". Vinnie informs Lil that she has three days to find him the perfect wife or be staked. Vinnie's perfect wife would not be easy to locate with a year's time, much less three days because the woman must conform to Vinnie detailed list.
At the same time, the three demon Prince brothers are after a rogue spirit who has possessed a human. Big problem is that the possessed human is Lil's assistant, Evie.
**** This entire story is filled with sass, kick-butt adventure, and humor. The author has definitely made a name for herself in the Urban Fantasy field. As much as I enjoy Lil (and most of the other characters), I could not help but enjoy Dr. Mandy Dupree even more. Perhaps some day Mandy will get her own series. (Hey, it could happen!) In the meantime, readers will enjoy the latest installment of the D.E.D. series. I look forward to the next story. ****
