Davy has always been alone. He believes that he's the only person in the world who can teleport. But what if he isn't?A mysterious group of people has taken Davy captive. They don't want to hire him, and they don't have any hope of appealing to him to help them. What they want is to own him. They want to use his abilities for their own purposes, whether Davy agrees to it or not. And so they set about brainwashing him and conditioning him. They have even found a way to keep a teleport captive. But there's one thing that they don't know. No one knows it, not even Davy. And it might save his life.... (20050131) |

Totally boring. Just get on with the action!!!! |
Way too slow!!! Nothing exciting here at all. It took forever to get going if it actually got going at all.
If this was a movie, it would be over in 5 to 10 minutes. Rubbish story, rubbish writing and rubbish overall concept.
Waste of time as this sequal goes nowhere.
Very dissappointing. |

Steven Gould can do no wrong! |
I adore Steven Gould's sci-fi and loved this 2nd book in the Jumper series. I am drawn into the stories, fully believing every word of them, and empathize with the character and the problems that arise with his gift of teleportation. Gould manages to make his characters seem so life-like, describing impossibilities that occur in every day situations in very tactile ways.
I have not seen the movie yet that came out based on the first book, but I was thrilled to buy the new 3rd book in the series, "Griffin's Story", that Gould wrote solely to support the idea of 2nd jumper in the movie. Readers will be pleased to know that the book stands on its own, and despite the movie images on the mass market edition, it has nothing to do with the movie (merely sets the stage for the movie to begin).
Reflex and the original Jumper, however, definitely remain my favorites of Gould's writings. |
