Wait for the 5th edition!! |
I am a university course developer and MT(ASCP)and am using this, along with several other sources to develop content for a CLS program. I do agree with some of the other reviewers who stated just giving the raw "A,B,C,D" answer in not that helpful. ASCP should follow the lead of the NCA, AMT, and other commercially available reviews and give explanations for the answers. I do appreciate the breakout as to MLT/CLT vs. MT/CLS for each study area. What I cannot understand is that this review is over 13 YEARS OLD! I know ASCP is coming out with the 5th edition in July 09, but having a span of 13 years between editions is just unacceptable for a professional organization like ASCP. In those 13 years the profession has changed logarithmically and to publish and sell a review that is that outdated is totally unacceptable. My advice to anyone interested in buying this book is to wait for the 5th edition which should contain sections such as molecular studies, flow cytometry, and lymphocyte subset studies just to name a few (which are woefully underrepresented in this edition). |

Helpful |
I used this when I was reviewing to take my CLS exam. Most of the Questions were out of this world though.... too hard! But I just did familiarize myself and understand it more.... I did pass the CLS exam! Yepeee! I am planning to take the ASCP soon... so, this would be helpful again. |

ASCP review material |
no explanation for answers in questionnaires (need to look for it) but good enough for review material in prep for certification. |

Waste of time/money |
I wish my instructor never recommended this book. Again, so many questions and no explanations of the answers. The questions may give you an idea of what you're in for, but it makes for a lousy study guide. The NCA review book is much better since it includes axplanations...even if you're not actually taking the NCA exam, I found that review book more valuable then the a,b,c, and d that ASCP gives you. |

Lots of Questions! |
If you want lots of questions to practice with than you will love having this, however wrong and right answers are not explained. I used the study cards more often and the online practice questions were of more use. |
