Editorial Reviews for  'Force of Nature (Troubleshooters, Book 11)'

Product Description
Hard-driving suspense and intense passion are the hallmarks of bestselling author Suzanne Brockmann’s pulse-pounding thrillers. In her tales of daring, danger, courage, and desire, men and women of action fight fiercely, love deeply, and time after time raise the bar for adventure to new heights. Brockmann’s latest novel is no exception.

Florida private investigator and ex-cop Ric Alvarado’s life is spiraling out of control. His beautiful new girl Friday, Annie Dugan, is far more interested in fieldwork than filing, and despite Ric’s best efforts to ignore the attraction, sparks are flying between them. Then one of Ric’s clients turns femme fatale and tries to gun down an innocent man. Thanks to quick thinking and even quicker reflexes, Ric comes to the rescue, only to learn he’s done a very good deed for some very bad people.

Suddenly Ric finds himself deep undercover with Annie, working for notorious crime boss Gordon Burns. One mistake from Ric’s painfully inexperienced partner and they’re both dead.

FBI agent Jules Cassidy’s life isn’t in much better shape. For years the FBI has been trying to prove Gordon Burns’s ties to terrorist activity. Now, thanks to Ric and Annie, Jules has found a way into the lion’s den. But in the course of his investigation he comes face-to-face with Robin Chadwick, the charismatic but self-destructive and closeted movie star for whom Jules feels a powerful attraction. Robin’s in town promoting his latest film–and Gordon Burns is a star-struck movie buff.

With Robin and Jules’s help, Ric and Annie are soon entrenched in Burns’s organization, surrounded by killers who may already have executed an FBI infiltrator. Before long the couple realizes that many more lives besides their own will be at stake if they make a false move. As the heat between them reaches dangerous levels, so do the risks they’re willing to take–in the line of duty, for the sake of loyalty, and in the name of something that runs even deeper.

From the Hardcover edition.

Too long to wait....
I'm a Brockmann fan, have read almost all of her previous books and even saw her at a Romance Writers' Convention. My problem with this book is that it took way too long for the action to get going - in fact, the action didn't really happen until the last 100 pages or so. Once it got going, by the way, it was fine. Not much to do with terrorists, as a reader had been led to believe, but creative, funny and heart-tugging.

My big problem was that before the action there was an awful lot of feelings....and more feelings....and more of the same. If I read one more time that Rick was scared for Annie or that Robin is a f-up.....well, let's just say that it got tedious as SB repeated the same thoughts again and again. I'd also say that the introduction of multiple characters at the start was pretty awkwardly handled and it took far too long for them all to mesh and the actual plot to get going.

For those who are SB fans, I'd recommend HEARTHROB and BODYGUARD, two non-SEAL and non-military books, which are truly excellent, fast-moving contemporaries.

If you don't know who Jules and Robin are... read the series!
Not only is this special book in its own right, but it's the beautiful lead in to Jules and Robin's happily ever after. If you're a fan of this series then you've been cheering for them since we first met them and in Force of Nature things are finally resolved. And if you don't know who Jules and Robin are... read the series! You'll love it!In sequence this glorious series reads; The Unsung Hero, The Defiant Hero, Over the edge, Out of Control, Into the Night, Gone too Far, Flashpoint, Hot Target, Breaking Point, Into the Storm, Force of Nature, All Through the Night and Into the Fire, due in August in hardcover - reserve your copy now!.

Read it Again and Again
I can't help but say it, if you want a good romantic suspense author she's the one. I started on her books about a year and a half ago and have now read them all. She weaves the plots together well and the characters are well developed. Once I start on one of her books I can't put it down. I usually end up reading them in the oddest places (ie: whild on hold to a doctor's office making appointments). I could give you a summary but that has already been done and you can read it up above, what I can tell you is that her writing is tops and you will enjoy every minute you put into the book. I don't normally reread books, but for her I make an exception.

Entertaining and a nice mix of enlightened social values.
I enjoyed the plot, the characters, and the writing. However most of all I find the message of tolerance very refreshing in a genre that seems to be filled with a religious right slant in many novels.

The Best!
Excellent! Get all the Troubleshooter books/tapes. They are wonderful!!!
I just finished listening to, "All Through the Night." I love the characters and story lines.
Thanks Michael Holland for bringing all the characters to life.
