Product Description |
|
What's an alpha shape-shifting wolf to do when the woman pre-destined to be his mate no longer trusts men? After returning home from an eight-month security job, Eli Graham is ready to claim his best friend's little sister as his mate. He'd put it off for years, thinking he was doing the right thing by waiting. Instead of the stubborn, independent, carefree girl he left behind, Eli finds a shell of the woman he once knew. Having lived through a near fatal attack, Nikki Taylor has hidden herself away from the world. Now the time has come to face head-on the one man who could devastate her completely, Eli Graham. She's loved him forever, craves him, body, heart and soul, but he's never treated her as anything but a little sister. When Nikki witnesses a murder, she has no choice but to rely on Eli's expertise. While guarding her from the man bent on wiping out a witness, Eli shows Nikki that he'll not only protect her body, but he'll show her just what it means to be a wolf's mate. Warning, this title contains the following: hot, explicit sex, graphic violence and language, and is not for the faint of heart! |

Very enjoyable. Good suspense. |
I always enjoy this author's alpha-type guy who is focused on only one woman, he has to have her, he wants to protect her, he is totally possessive about her, and he treasures her forever. It was a good story about wolf/shape-shifter Eli who leaves town for 8 months. He knew Nicole was his mate, and he planned to tell her so when he returned. While he was gone, she was attacked by three rapists but barely escaped. Later she witnessed a murder. The murderer wants to kill Nicole because she is a witness. Eli returns and tries to protect her from the murderer's attempts.
Sexual language: strong. Number of sex scenes: six. Setting: current day St. Louis, Missouri. Copyright: 2007. Genre: erotic, paranormal romantic suspense.

Checkmate checks out poorly |
|
I enjoy a good romance as well as the next person but Checkmate had no romance. Give me a relationship development before jumping into the sack with someone. Sexually explicit scenes I can handle but the crude language in this story was unromantic and offensive. The story line had great possibilities but was not developed. I was so uncomfortable with the crude language that I did not pass the book along to the usual friends. |

Nikki and Eli |
|
I am not going to go into detail, I see this has been nicely done. I really enjoyed this story...much better than the first story with Eli's twin. Nikki endures a lot in this book and Eli sticks by her and shows her a passion beyond her dreams. I recommend this book and will be checking out more books by this author. |

Shapeshifter saves the day! |
This story is the follow up to McKenna's book "Seeing Eye Mate" In this story heroine Nikki is having trouble getting over a near rape that occured 6 months previously. When she starts to try and go out again she ends up walking smack into a triple murder where the murder sees her and then tries to kill her for the rest of the book.
The Hero has known she is his "Mate" for a long time but wanted to wait until she was older to claim her and have wild sex for the rest of their lives. He returns from a 6 month business trip to find his previously outspoken future mate withdrawn and changed. He finds out why, claims her and sets about protecting her and finding out who the murder is before he can kill Nikki.
Nikki takes the news that he is a shapeshifter wolf a little to easily but what the heck this is fiction. The sex is hot and the characters are nice people. It is also nice to be able to find out a little more about what happened to the hero and heroine in her first book.
I give it 4 out of 5 because their are authors who write this type of story much better. Lora Leigh, Christine Feehan to name a few. |
