Product Description |
With a dagger in her hand and vengeance on her mind, Darkhaven beauty Elise Chase prowls Boston’s streets in search of retribution against the Rogue vampires who took from her everything she cherished. Using an extraordinary psychic gift, she tracks her prey, well aware that the power she possesses is destroying her. She must learn to harness this gift, and for that she can turn to only one man—the deadliest of the Breed warriors, Tegan.
No stranger to loss, Tegan knows Elise’s pain. He knows fury, but when he slays his enemies it is with ice in his veins. He is perfect in his self-control, until Elise seeks his aid in her personal war. An unholy alliance is forged—a bond that will link them by blood and vow—and plunge them into a tempest of danger, desire, and the darkest passions of the heart. . . . |

As good as books 1 and 2.... |
This book is just as fantastic as books 1 and 2 in the series. I do have to admit that I liked Dante (book 2) and Tegan (book 3) a bit better than I liked Lucan, all in all. They're more my "type". But, these are fabulous books.
To Lara Adrian: Keep up the great work!!!! I hope you continue with the series till you've covered ALL the guy's love-livs, including Sterling, and Brock and Kent. |

Really great book. One of my favorite paranormal romance authors! Right up there with Sherrilyn Kenyon and J.R. Ward. Unique and new vampire twist. |

Waiting in vain |
|
I have one criticism for this whole series of books by Lara Adrian. She does not allow her characters to reach their full potential. Or maybe I should say they aren't allowed to release their inner caveman. The story overall is good and I enjoyed it, but it was safe. I was constantly waiting for Tegan to break loose and be the butt kickin' warrior he had bottled up for so long. I am anxiously waiting for the next book in the series and hopefully not in vain. |

My favourite so far |
Wow, what a book!
After the death of her son, Camden, Elise Chase leaves Darkhaven and goes to live in the city, hunting Rogues and minions for revenge and justice. Tegan sees her one night while she is attacked, but he can't convince her to leave her new "mission". When she manages to get an old diary coveted by Marek, Tegan takes her to the Order.
A clue about the diary's author points to Berlin, where Tegan is going to go to get information. Elise decides to accompany him, because being the widow of an important Darkhaven Breed, she has connections to the Enforcement Agency, which can be useful to Tegan.
Elise is a strong and intelligent heroine, but she also has a soft and vulnerable side. Both Elise and Tegan have suffered a lot, and their pain has changed them. They aren't interested in love, but they found themselves drawn to each other. Lara Adrian develops very well their relationship, without rushing it.
In the book there are also nice scenes with the other Breeds. I especially liked the interaction between the females, Sterling (he's becoming one of my favourite characters!) and a new interesting Breed, Andreas Reichen.
Regarding the worldbuilding, there's a good development, very promising for the next books. I really like the direction the series are taking, and I'm very interested in the next book, although I don't think Rio is ready for his HEA.

Maybe the Best Yet |
I was delighted with this book. The characters evolved and didn't just end up together, the end. Both Tegan and Elise learned from the new hands life had dealt them and played very well off each other. They did the sort of maddeningly stupid, stubborn stuff that you do when you fall in love instead of go searching for it.
Elise is a smart, strong female character and Tegan is equally a frustrating but intriguing lead. The pair head out from Rogue beleaguered Boston to use the contacts in Germany to solve the war with Marek and a mystery that's as old as the vampire Order itself.
Readers of the series will be very surprised where the ending of the book takes them and how the bad guys our heroes of the Order battle will evolve. This may have been my favorite story in the series yet! |
